Linda
Frey

Linda brings more than 20 years of experience leading strategy, programs and partnership development for nonprofit organizations, private foundations, and government. She brings a rare combination of big picture thinking and detail-orientation, and her superpower is figuring out how to operationalize big ideas.

Linda has a track record of successfully launching new initiatives in multiple sectors, which gives her a nuanced understanding of the role various actors play in tackling policy challenges. Most recently Linda served as the inaugural Director of the State of California’s $146M College Corps program, which mobilizes more than 3,000 students each year to solve problems in their communities while earning money to help pay for college. Linda led the team (in the Office of the Governor) that oversees grants and programmatic support to more than 40 partner colleges and universities across the state.

Linda was previously Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at Global Citizen Year, an immersive global gap year and leadership development program for high school graduates. Earlier in her career, Linda was the inaugural Executive Director of the Open Government Partnership, an international organization that strengthens government transparency and civic participation around the world. From 2004 to 2012, she was a Program Officer at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, where she helped develop and launch a large new philanthropic program focused on Global Development. In this role, she also spearheaded a $100M donor collaborative to strengthen policy research institutes in developing countries (the Think Tank Initiative).

Linda currently lives in San Anselmo, CA with her husband and two daughters.
